It’s unlikely that many of us will visit the Chelsea Garden Show in London this year, but it doesn’t hurt to look and learn from the gardening trends for 2019 and beyond.
HEADLINES: Chelsea goes wild for native plants as garden designers go for relaxed, natural planting. “The manicured look is out; the soft and natural is most certainly in.”
COLOUR: Linked to the native, wild trend, the most predominant colour is GREEN.
PERENNIALS: Big trees and perennials are in! In fact, if we’re planting flowers, the Chelsea Garden Show encourages us to plant perennials.
SIMPLE STRUCTURES are on trend this year; one garden even includes a large rainwater reservoir. Given the dry conditions in Battle River Region, this is certainly a garden feature to adopt.
SMALL FLOWERS are enjoying a come back – with small, understated flowers in abundance.
